The game
A classic space MMO, rebuilt from the ground up and hosted for our group. Your progress is saved on the server, and new content arrives step by step in update packs.
Join MMO, EIC or VRU. Defend your home sectors, push into the battle maps and hunt the other companies' pilots.
From Phoenix to Goliath: lasers, generators, rockets, Hellstorm launchers, Iris and Flax drones, ship designs and a hangar with two configurations.
Collect the parts for Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta, jump in with your lives and survive wave after wave for the big rewards and the gate rings at your name.
Team up in groups, found a clan, talk in the global and company chat rooms, and climb the ranks with honor and experience.
Every level brings pilot points. Spend them in the pilot sheet on skills for more damage, shields, hit points and rewards.
Quest givers on every station, bonus boxes all over the maps, and server events like Spaceball, Scoremageddon and the Halloween pumpkins.

How to play
One small file, AncientOrbitLauncher.exe. Put it into its own folder, for example Ancient Orbit on your desktop: the game is downloaded next to it.
Double-click it. It downloads the game once and keeps it and itself up to date from then on.
In the launcher open Register: a pilot name, a password and your company. Then log in, press Play and you are on the map.
Windows SmartScreen? The launcher is not code-signed, so Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” on the first start. Click More info and then Run anyway.

No. Ancient Orbit is a private, non-commercial server for our group of friends. There is nothing to buy.
Ask the server admin. Pilots are registered without an email address, so there is no automatic password reset.
Just start the launcher. It checks the game files and only downloads what has changed, and it updates itself too. When an update comes out while you play, the game tells you and the launcher installs it.
The launcher talks to the server over HTTPS, every update is signed and checked before it is installed, and passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
